In September Last year, Sanyo Announced their High Capacity Low self discharge battery, having a capacity of 25Ah (2500 mAh). These AA size battery were given name of XX and was initially launched in Europe only.
Eneloop XX
Sanyo says – These battery are designed with eneloop Low self discharge technology but have higher capacity and specifically designed for Professional use. These battery can be used in Professional digital camera and will give you extra 500 mAh over the normal eneloop which means 1 whooping 25% extra battery life.
Sanyo claimed that these battery have low self discharge rate but higher than their standard eneloop battery. These battery will discharge about 75% of charge over a year, but as they designed for Professional user I don’t think discharging over a year does matter much. What is important is how much it discharges within 1 week or so after full charge and according to data provided by Company and various sites it is still almost same as Eneloop.
These battery still gives a very stable voltage of 1.2V till it is about 95% discharged, which is trademark of any Sanyo Eneloop battery whether it is XX or older versions. Making these batteries highly useful for High Current drain devices like Gaming devices, R/C Toys or Digital camera.
The design and name of These brand new high capacity battery is kept as Black and ‘XX’ which symbolize professional use. If you are heavy user of battery and uses them a lot you must switch to XX Sanyo Eneloop from standard eneloop.
If you are a home user and using battery occasionally and you need to store them for quite a while, we recommend not to use these batteries as they got higher discharge rate than standard eneloop. XX Eneloop are good for those users who uses battery power within 2-7 days from the charge. Like professional photographers who need to stock 30-40 battery in their kit and consumes them while charging other set. Usually such users uses 5-6 set of 4 battery daily.
